To uphold academic rigor, integrity, and scholarly quality, all manuscripts submitted to Media Riset Kesehatan Masyarakat Indonesia (MRKMI) undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. This process ensures an objective, independent, and transparent evaluation by experts in the relevant field.

Upon submission, each manuscript is subjected to an initial editorial screening conducted by the Editorial Team. This screening assesses the manuscript’s alignment with the journal’s scope, compliance with author guidelines, ethical standards, and minimum scholarly quality.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to a minimum of two independent reviewers with subject-matter expertise. In certain cases, a third reviewer may be appointed if additional expertise is required or if reviewers’ opinions diverge.

Reviewer Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

• Relevance, clarity, and accuracy of the title and abstract
• Strength and adequacy of the background and literature review
• Appropriateness and transparency of the research methodology and ethical compliance
• Validity, accuracy, and interpretation of the results
• Originality, scholarly contribution, and relevance to the field of public health
• Quality of discussion, conclusions, and practical or theoretical implications
• Overall structure, clarity of writing, and use of references

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are required to provide constructive, objective, and detailed feedback, including clear recommendations for improvement. All reviewers must adhere to principles of confidentiality, declare any potential conflicts of interest, and comply with ethical standards in peer review.

Editorial Decision

Following the completion of peer review, the Editorial Board evaluates the reviewers’ reports. The final editorial decision—acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection— is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the scientific merit of the manuscript, and its relevance to the journal’s scope.

Plagiarism Screening

To ensure originality and academic integrity, all manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using Turnitin or equivalent plagiarism detection software prior to final acceptance.

Post-Acceptance Process

Manuscripts accepted for publication proceed to the post-acceptance stage, which includes professional copyediting, layout preparation, and final proofreading. Authors are given the opportunity to review and approve the final version of their manuscript before publication.
