Publication Ethics

Media Riset Kesehatan Masyarakat Indonesia (MRKMI)

Media Riset Kesehatan Masyarakat Indonesia (MRKMI) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal follows the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies COPE procedures when addressing allegations of research or publication misconduct.

All manuscripts submitted to MRKMI are evaluated based on scientific merit, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal’s scope, without influence from commercial or financial considerations.

Research Ethics and Ethical Approval

Research involving human participants must comply with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and relevant national regulations.

Authors are required to clearly state:

  • The name of the approving ethics committee or institutional review board.
  • The approval number or reference code, where applicable.
  • A statement confirming that informed consent was obtained from participants or legal guardians.

Research involving animals must comply with applicable institutional, national, and international guidelines, including principles issued by CIOMS (Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences). Authors must describe measures taken to minimize animal suffering and reduce the number of animals used.

Editorial Responsibilities

  • Make editorial decisions based solely on academic quality, relevance, and ethical compliance.
  • Ensure a fair and transparent double-blind peer review process.
  • Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts and reviewer identities.
  • Manage conflicts of interest and recuse themselves when necessary.
  • Handle corrections, retractions, and ethical complaints in accordance with COPE guidance.

Reviewers’ Responsibilities

  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews.
  • Treat all manuscripts as confidential documents.
  • Declare any potential conflicts of interest and decline review when appropriate.
  • Report suspected ethical issues, plagiarism, or research misconduct to the editor.

Authors’ Responsibilities

  • Submit original work that is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Accurately report data, methods, and results without fabrication or falsification.
  • Properly cite all sources and avoid plagiarism, redundant publication, and salami slicing.
  • Disclose conflicts of interest and sources of funding.
  • Provide required ethical approval and informed consent statements.

Handling Misconduct

MRKMI is committed to safeguarding the integrity of the scholarly record. The journal will take appropriate actions, including corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions, when ethical standards are not met, in accordance with COPE guidelines.
